Being
Human: Sacred Woman
A workshop for women, faciliated by Alicia
Thom.
In our culture
there is very little acknowledgement or recognition of
women as sacred; worthy of or regarded with reverence and
awe, even by ourselves. In this workshop we will be making
an inner pilgrimage; a journey to a sacred place.
On this journey we
will be exploring what it means to each of us to be a woman
within the context of what are known as the life forces.
These forces, which exist both within us in our genetic
coding, our feelings, actions and beliefs, and around us in
the everyday world, act as our servants, facilitating us in
our lives. Often, however, we are unaware of how they
affect us. Through group discussion and
individual exercises, this workshop will enable us to share
our experiences about what qualities we have brought from
our culture, our ancestry, and our genetic coding. We will
explore our feelings about being a woman, and whether those
feelings uplift us or hold us where we are in our lives. We
will discuss our relationships as women with our partners,
our families, and our friends, and see what is needed to
expand our view of ourselves and the world.
Through the
willingness to look within, and surrender to the Creator,
we will begin to touch the essence and sacredness of
ourselves as women; and what that means to each one of us
in our own unique lives.

Alicia Thom was born in London
and educated at a Waldorf school, where she first began to
realize the importance of a community life. At age 15, her
family moved to Indonesia, which allowed her to broaden her
view of the world and its large and diverse cultures. As an
adult, she became interested in acquiring further tools to
facilitate an understanding of ourselves as human beings,
earning a Master NLP diploma in 1989. From 1993 to 1998,
she served as national co- ordinator for a youth
organization in her spiritual community. Married to Solihin
since 1976, they relocated with their four children to
Oregon in 1991, with the vision of introducing their work
in this country.
Alicia has co-facilitated the Life Forces workshops with
her husband Solihin for over seventeen years. Living,
teaching, and traveling in many different countries has
made her aware of the significance of the life forces in
all relationships, whether with oneself, with others, or
with God. A Sacred Woman is the culmination of her personal
spiritual journey, coupled with her own life experience as
a woman, in marriage and as a mother of four. Over the last
year Alicia has facilitated the Sacred Woman workshops on
the East and West coasts of the US, in England, Austria and
Russia. Alicia and Solihin have written a book entitled
