Solihin
Malim Thom was born in Scotland, in 1950. He was initially
raised in Kuwait, but then later schooled in Scotland. His
life has been marked by constant travel; first with his
parents, then as a schoolboy, and now as an adult. He has
been fortunate to have also lived in many places; Cyprus,
Lebanon, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, England
and now the USA.
In 1980,
Solihin graduated from the British School of Osteopathy and
began one of the first multi-disciplinary alternative
practices in London. During this time as a cranial
osteopath he developed a passion for inquiry and research.
In 1984 he trained in clinical acupuncture in Colombo, Sri
Lanka, under the auspices of the World Health Organization.
He was first introduced to kinesiology by Dr. John Bandy,
and then taught by Dr. Meldener, both chiropractic
physicians to use Applied Kinesiology as a feedback tool.
This opened up an enormous new vista for research.
Despite the success of his highly regarded practice,
Solihin noticed that there were always a few patients for
whom treatment appeared ineffective. The challenge of
discovering why these patients could not achieve lasting
results led him to an entirely new way of working. In 1984,
Solihin then met the Alan Beardall DC, who introduced a new
model of work called Clinical Kinesiology, which used both
muscle testing and hand modes as a language by which to
communicate with a patient. This allowed the clinician to
access a precise way of working from the client's own
needs.
After this initial introduction to clinical kinesiology,
and the sudden and tragic death of Alan Beardall, Solihin
began to develop his own work through the action of his
spiritual path of surrender to God. Over several years he
received over fourteen hundred hand modes in his work with
clients, and discovered how to use his expanding knowledge
of the body to facilitate change for those seeking it. Over
the last twenty years, Solihin's work has refined and
expanded his body of work to include practitioner and
personal development workshops which are being taught in
the US, Russia, Switzerland, Austria and such diverse
locations as Morocco, Bali Italy and India. He is a regular
speaker and facilitator at conferences, and is a regular
contributor to both the American Holistic Health
Association and the prestigious Cranial Academy of the
American Osteopathic Association..
Solihin has resided in the United States with his wife
Alicia since 1991. Married for thirty years, they have four
children, and together they facilitate a series called the
Being Human: Life Force series, and co-ordinate and juggle
a busy work schedule with an equally demanding home life.
Their new book, Being Human: Exploring the forces that
shape us and awaken an inner life, is now available.
