Alicia
and Solihin Move to Russia

Dear all,
Solihin and I
have wanted to write about this big change in our lives for some
time now, but also felt to wait until everything was confirmed
before making a general announcement.
As of May 24th, we will be moving to Moscow, Russia! We have
been offered an incredible opportunity to grow and expand our work
there and are both very excited about taking off on this new
adventure together.
As many of you know we have been working in Russia for the last
eight years, doing our own workshops and private consultations
there, largely due to the hard work, support and dedication
of Konstantin Trifonov. This will be a different
scenario, as we will be employed (for the first time in thirty
years!) by a large organization, headed by Nikolai Tsvetkov, who
truly has a vision for Russia and the resources to support
implementation of that vision.
Last summer we began working with the top managers of the eighteen
companies within the organization, bringing them "Purpose and
Value" a Being Human workshop that we adapted for a business
setting. They were able to see the relationship between their
own life forces and those of the business they headed and gain an
understanding of what needed to change in both aspects. We
have done four of those, two in June, and two in October just as
the economy was crashing around us.
The market in Russia dropped 70% which made us uncertain if this
project would continue, but it is, and it looks as though they are
going to keep us very busy.
The second part of the project is for Solihin to develop a school
of ontology, which is something he has always wanted to do.
There is funding for research and curriculum development to create
a post-graduate program for doctors. This is an enormous task
and there are many people involved in the development of a
multi-disciplinary training program. So, we will be very
busy, along with learning Russian, which I have begun to do, albeit
slowly, and adapting to living in a city of 15 million with a very
different culture.
In October I spoke with an American friend who has lived there for
several years, teaching at the Anglo-American school. I asked
her if she had much connection socially with the international
community, and she said that generally foreigners don't last very
long in Russia, usually about three years, as most people find it
very hard. So we will see how we fare! I am grateful
for the fact that we already have a strong community of people who
have done our workshops over the years, also there is a good large
group of people from our spiritual community Subud, and now we have
this new community that we have been working with, and will
continue to, so we have a strong network of Russian connections as
a starting place.
In conjunction with the preparations to move, Solihin, Diana and
myself have been working hard to reformulate and build a stronger
organization in Ad Humanitas that can continue and thrive without
our physical presence. We had a large workshop for
practitioners at the Oregon coast in September, (see article on The
Ark), there has also been a training program for teachers who are
going to offer a two-day introduction to Cranial Fluid
Dynamics. In March/April we held two certification weekends,
one on in Connecticut and the other in Oregon to offer the
opportunity for practitioners to become certified in CFD, Allergy,
Qi and also as a Master Practitioner. This was a rich time of
community, learning and commitment to the work, and we both feel
confident leaving the work in such dedicated and caring
hands. We also have every confidence in Diana's capacity to
hold the fort while we are gone, as she has already demonstrated
such enthusiasm and commitment to the work and those who practice,
teach and receive it, that we feel sure that Ad Humanitas will
continue to thrive and grow in our absence. We will be
continuing our regular weekly meetings, although they will now be
by Skype!
Our intent is to return to Portland when our time in Russia comes
to an end, which could be several years, hard to know at this
point, and to return to visit at least once a year. We are going to
rent the house out while we are gone.
So many people have asked us to let them know what it is like
living in Russia, that I will be writing a regular blog* about our
experiences. Another reason is that I would like to offer another
more personal perspective on life in Russia than the one everyone
hears on the news. We want very much to stay in touch and continue
our relationships, and have had lots of practice, as we moved to
Oregon eighteen years ago and still maintain rich friendships in
England.
This impending move has prompted enormous growth and development
within Ad Humanitas as an organization and human community, and we
envisage more of the same to continue over the coming years.
Wishing you all much love from us both,
Alicia and Solihin
Desvedanya!
