Come and join us this summer!

Biennial Gathering
La Cartuja Guesthouse - www.cartujadecazalla.com
Seville, Spain
August 14-28, 2010
Two years ago a very international group of us gathered on the Oregon Coast for two weeks. Now it is time for Europe to host the biennial gathering, and we have found the beautiful La Cartuja de Cazalla, in Andalucia, Spain. It is an old monastery with a very rich history that is now a guesthouse and retreat center, with a swimming pool, set in beautiful countryside close to Seville. (See the website link above).
Creating opportunities to take time together for learning and sharing is very important to us and for the continued nurturing and development of the Ad Humanitas community and the work. This time together with participants from other countries than our own and in another culture enriches the experience of all of us. We intend to have open spaces during the days to allow for full enjoyment of the surroundings. We have been given a deeply discounted rate for accommodation and meals of €50 a night per person in a shared room. Excursions will be at cost based on shared expenses of bus etc. Note: the first week we will have the place to ourselves, the second we will have limited space, so registrations will be taken on a first come first served basis.
Please note: the following prices are in Euros (€)
(For exchange rates visit www.xe.com)
All amounts will be converted to dollar amounts on the date of transaction processing.
Accommodation and meals €50 a day will be paid separately.
To book your place, please pay a non-refundable deposit of €250 by April 14, 2010.
Once you have registered you will receive a comprehensive information packet.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS AND PRICING
Being Human Workshop
August 16-19
facilitated by Solihin and Alicia
OPEN TO ALL!
Prerequisite: Reading Being Human: exploring the forces that shape us and awaken an inner life, by Solihin and Alicia Thom and Alexandra ter Horst.
As humans, we are equipped to lead both and inner and outer life. When these two are harmonious, they become one, so that our outer actions, thoughts and feelings are guided by our inner Self. This is the essence of being human. In this powerful, experiential workshop we will introduce the Life Forces model that reflects the natural order that we are all a part of, including elements that echo and mirror the material, vegetal, animal, and human realms, our collective evolutionary history and inherited and familial patterns. Because when a genetic predisposition, a feeling, a habit, or a belief takes power or influences us, whether positively or negatively, it exerts a force. These forces may support is or disrupt our natural order. We invite you to join us on a profound journey - in a beautiful setting - using the constellation process, individual and group work to facilitate a wider and deeper understanding of the forces that shape you, and how they can support you in fully emerging as your Self.
€350
I find this model is the most comprehensive, integrated and complete of all I have studied. The practice/process that brings this model alive is guided with care, love and perseverance. Life patterns that have become limiting or destructive become recognized and surrendered with support and guidance allowing the growth of the new. The changes are deep and resonant.
Peggy Smith, USA
This workshop has facilitated in me a process of re-connecting to the very essence and essences of who I am and what it means to be a human being. Thank you and God Bless.
Angie O'Rourke, UK
The process of carefully guided self-exploration has given me a way of understanding myself as a truly integrated being. (Eleven years of psychoanalysis did not give me this sense of integration). I know of no other model of human experience (and the human condition) that embodies what it is to be human in all its variations and nuance. The process of exploring this model with the Thoms brought me home to myself in a way I have never previously experienced. A deeply wise approach that integrates body, mind, soul and spirit.
Robert Perry, USA
Solihin and Alicia are superb at facilitating this amazingly grounded, creative process into knowing who you are, why you are here and where you are headed, in relationship to yourself and your life. And it is always with a truly great group of people that we get to discover these gems about ourselves!
Anita Soos, USA

This workshop is for InnerDialogue practitioners. It will be modeled on the Life Forces, and oriented around the inner development of the participants. We will implement constellation processes in conjunction with our ontological toolbox to assist, experiment, and develop the art of dialogue to tell the client's 'story.' We will particularly concentrate on the development of signals - the inner awareness of the state of the 'other' so that we can develop extra capacity to help 'read' our clients and hear their deepest needs. The purpose of this workshop is to develop your skills as a practitioner, deepen your self-knowledge, expand your map, and be creative.

Message from Solihin and Alicia
As we approach the spring equinox we are reflecting on the many changes that have taken place in Ad Humanitas and our own personal lives during this past year. Our last writing was just before we departed for Russia at the end of May. We have adjusted well to life in Moscow and are very happy being here. It feels like home for now and where we need to be. We have just moved into a more permanent apartment, which is still in the same neighborhood, but now a few minutes walk from the park we used to overlook. Although we loved our first apartment, it was only after moving in to this one that we felt even more at home, that this is our place, and it is very light and open with a view of a lovely old building in front with trees and space beyond a wrought iron fence.
We have been extremely busy with workshops, doing our first one two days after we arrived and ending the year with one two days before Christmas, a total of twenty! Each one is three days, usually residential with 35-45 people each time, and all simultaneously translated. It is challenging, fascinating, rewarding, and growth and flexibility-inducing to do this work! We are introducing our Being Human model of the life forces and caduceus as an organizational tool, that can be applied to any system, whether an individual, family or business. We help them to see how their business is organized, or more likely, the disorder that exists and what is needed to restructure it so that it can function to its best capacity. They are also seeing the parallels between the way the business functions and their own individual system, and for most of them is a completely new way of looking at themselves, each other and their business. It is fascinating to see how their particularly unique history has affected them, the archetypes that exist and hold them in that old history, and yet how much potential and life exists there too. Generally it is being very well received, and they are adapting their business plans and organization in accordance with the model, and now all speaking the same language.
Since we returned from our daughter Sofiah's wedding in January (which was such a special, love and blessing-filled week in beautiful Costa Rica where she and Brendan live) we have been doing three three-day workshops a month plus a one-day each week, but mostly they are in the city now so we can come home at night which we prefer. In the coming weeks we have workshops planned for Ekaterinberg in the Urals, St Petersberg, France, and Novosibirsk in Siberia to visit the regional offices of the company, so we will be doing far more traveling and getting to see more of Russia outside Moscow!
The winter has been beautiful, a real winter for the first time in ten years, according to locals; snow on the ground since early December, and still light flurries every day in mid-March, but just a dusting. The lowest temperatures were -24C, but for the last couple of weeks it has been between -6C and 3, which now to us feels almost balmy! Last week we went for a beautiful walk in the still snowy birch woods, with people cross country skiing and walked on the frozen Moscow River!
In Ad Humanitas there was a lot of activity before we left, preparing teachers, certifying practitioners, working on new policy and website, and those last two are almost ready, finally! We have been so grateful to Diana for being there to handle all the day-to-day dealings of Ad Humanitas and keep us in touch with everything, and for the teachers who have stepped up to continue the growth and development of the work. There have been CFD Intros on both sides of the country, and in Ireland, and a full four part CFD series in Portland is in process right now, there have been Qi intros and a full series completed, and there are more workshops planned. It has been challenging to maintain communication, with the 11-hour time difference, our intense schedule and yet, thanks be to Skype, it has been possible!
Although extremely busy here, our intent is to stay closely involved in Ad Humanitas and continue to maintain a teaching presence (albeit limited), while continuing to facilitate the development of the community and sharing of this work.
With our love,
Alicia and Solihin
