& Alicia Thom
Ad Humanitas is an organization dedicated to
furthering humanity within each of us as members of one
global human community. The name Ad Humanitas
is derived from
Latin (ad
humanitatem) and means
'towards
humanity'. Founded in Portland,
Oregon in 1991 by Solihin
and
Alicia
Thom, the mission
of Ad Humanitas is to provide tools to navigate the human
journey through an understanding of what are known as
the life
forces, together with an
acknowledgement of the presence of a primary or Divine
force. These forces are both ordinary (those that exist
within and around us) and Holy - and can guide and
accompany us on our journey through life. As humans, we are
equipped to lead both an inner and outer life. When these
two are integrated, they become one, so that our outer
actions, thoughts and feelings are guided by our inner
Self. This is the essence of being human.
Ad Humanitas workshops, designed for both individuals and
professionals, offer an opportunity to explore the action
of these forces in the context of family patterns,
feelings, actions and beliefs. Their work is currently
being taught in the US, Europe, and Russia. The following
pages introduces some of our main teachers here in the US
and in Europe and Russia.
Solihin's background as a therapist came from years as an
Osteopath, in London, both teaching and practicing cranial
osteopathy, acupuncture, kinesiology and homeopathy. This
led to the development of an ontological protocol of
facilitation and healing. Alicia expanded beyond her
training, as a Master of neurolinguistic programming, to
bring the original therapeutic-based model to a larger and
broader audience. She is now an accredited Life Coach, and
applies this deep understanding of the life forces with her
training as a support and guide for those who need coaching
in life skills and organization.
Much of Solihin and Alicia's teaching is also based on
their inner experiences within their spiritual and everyday
lives, which serves as a foundation of all their work. Over
the years their understanding of the Life Forces has
widened and deepened since their initial exposure to the
idea thirty years ago. These forces - known as material,
vegetative, animal and human - exist both within and around
us, and arise from the matter comprising each of these
kingdoms. Historically the idea of forces was often thought
to be arcane and mystical. However, with the advent of
quantum physics the explanation of energies and forces
became more understandable, and furthermore offered
concrete evidence of their existence. These forces all
arise from a single source - the Absolute, the Divine.
Exploring the hierarchical order of these forces as they
relate to our lives, health and relationships is the
essence of our workshops
and
consultations.
Solihin and Alicia are regular presenters at conferences
worldwide relating to peace, personal sustainability,
spirituality and health.
Their
book, Being Human: Exploring the forces that
shape us and awaken an inner life offers a simple yet profound
introduction to the life forces. In addition, we offer
the
Being Human – Life
Forces series of personal growth and development
workshops for individuals, groups and businesses,
Inner Natures
Integration practitioner training/workshops
for those in the field of health care, and
private
consultations. Each of these is designed to
further an understanding of the life forces and how they
support and/or thwart us in our efforts to realize our true
potential. Understanding the hierarchy of the life forces -
material, vegetative, animal, human and noble - and how
they work in tandem with the five essential qualities of
integrity, flexibility, reflectiveness, surrender, and a
sense of our innate value enables us to see not only how
and when we are stuck in ancestral patterns, old emotions,
and unproductive or habitual behaviors and limiting
thoughts and beliefs, but also to find the resources we
contain to move past these limitations. We can then
move forward with a clarity of purpose and vision in our
quest to truly become human.
